April 29 - May 3

Math-a-Thon Week!

On Wednesday the entire school will be participating in the MMH Math-a-Thon! We are excited to try this out for the first time! I know the students will do great and appreciate your help in preparing them with the practice package at home.

  THANKS!

Thank you for all of the parent support with our trip to Aggie Days! The students had a blast and were excited to touch and learn and experience some of the jobs in the agricultural field. We are now learning about Prairie Regions in Social Studies and will be taking a closer look at the community of Saskatoon.  Aggie Days was a great kick off for this unit.

Arts Alive

On May 13 we will be making our way to the SAAG (Southern Alberta Art Gallery) to take a look at the Arts Alive Exhibit. This is one of my favourite trips as it highlights the talent of students across our entire district. MMH student work will be in the exhibit as well as every other school in District  51 as well as the Separate District. We will be at the SAAG from 12:45 – 2:15. If you are able to drive to and from this trip please let me know. A note will be coming home on April 29. Thank you so much!

Craddock’s News April 22-25

Earth Day

Monday is EARTH DAY! Our class has decided to take on the challenge of a “garbage-less” lunch on Monday! This means water bottles rather than juice boxes and tupperware/containers rather than baggies and packaging. I know that this may not work for all families to have a completely “garbage-less” lunch but we are hoping to make our best effort for Monday to help bring awareness about our environment and the little things we can do to help. Thanks for your help with this.

“Aggie” Days

Wednesday will be Aggie Days! We will leave our school from the gym as we have a really fun air band assembly happening at the same time. Thanks to Mrs. Chambers, Mr. Misek, Dr.Balderston, Mrs. Caruso, Ms. Edmonds and Mr. Hoekstra who will be driving us to and from our trip! We will leave the school at 1:15 on Wednesday, April 24.

 Crazy Hat/Hair Day

Thursday, April 25 is Crazy hat and hair day! We are hoping to win the MMH Spirit Cup! Our class has decided to wear our blue and yellow school colours and all wear an awesome hat of some sort! Feel free to create crazy hair as well if you would like to!

There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, April 26.

We have started our C.A.R.E unit which focuses on personal safety. Our focus in the early lessons is about our bodies being private and each person being the “boss” and in charge of their own body. I hope the students are sharing their learning with you. These concepts are great conversations to be having with your child to enforce the personal safety lessons we are teaching.

On April 24 all of the Grade 2’s will be attending “AGGIE” days! This is a great kick off to our study of Saskatoon and the prairies. An orange note was sent home on Friday. If you are able to help drive to and from this event I would really appreciate your help transporting and supervising. Thanks so much in advance!

Please check out the attached PDF file about a great session coming being offered for free at the Lethbridge Public Library on May 15. This session is titled “If you don’t use it you lose it Electronics and your child’s developing brain”. The session is presented by our speech pathologist at MMH and should be very informative.  Link is here -------If you don't use it you lose it!
